Elementary Spanish for Healthcare Professionals

Elementary Spanish for Healthcare Professionals is an introductory, two-course sequence (Span 101-202) designed to help future healthcare professionals –with a beginner proficiency level-- increase their ability to communicate in Spanish in healthcare settings. Offered in partnership with the UA Department of Spanish and Portuguese, Span 101-202 meet the language instruction needs of pre-health undergraduate students and health professions students from the colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health and Medicine. The two-course sequence also helps undergraduate students interested in pursuing a healthcare profession in building a strong foundation of basic oral proficiency in Spanish while meeting University of Arizona’s second language graduation requirement.
